We had a great meeting today, though with a few members absent. We missed you!

The bit of news we were saving for today is that the Vancouver Lace Club has agreed to host next year’s Lace Getaway. For those who haven’t heard about it, a Getaway is a 3-day lacemaker’s retreat. We go, we sit, we eat, we make lace, we meet people, we catch up with old friends, we find out what other lacemakers are doing. Usually there is a workshop or program of interest, especially on the last day, when we have a special lunch.

We are just starting our planning, so if you’ve been to a couple of these and have any thoughts about what you’d like to see, now is the time to send a comment to this post. The only details we have so far is the location and dates:

April 24, 25 & 26 (Monday through Wednesday)
at the Granly Church Hall (9243 152nd Street, Surrey, BC)
This is the same location as 2014 and 2015

April News and Meeting

First, a reminder that our next club meeting is next Thursday, April 28th, in the small boardroom at the Hastings Community Centre, 3096 East Hastings Street (across from the PNE), in Vancouver. We have some interesting news to tell, and we do hope you’ll be able to make the meeting.

Earlier this month six club members journeyed up to Courtenay for the Spring Lace Getaway. Kudos to the Denman and District Lace Group for hosting this Getaway, and for all of their hard work. On the second day we had a very interesting workshop on Tesselace (algorithmically designed lace tessellations), and the third and final day was enlivened by our traditional lunch. We hope the Spring Lace Getaway will become an annual event.
