Welcome to the Vancouver Lace Club’s website! As webmaster I’m enjoying an exciting learning curve – the Club only decided to have a website two days ago and I only agreed to be webmaster yesterday, so things are moving kind of fast. I will put up more information as we go along, and when I learn how to do it I will replace the stock photo of machine-made lace at the top of the page with something more appropriate!
In the meantime, we are all looking forward to people being able to discover us online. As a start I’ll put down the basic information we went online to tell everybody:
The Vancouver Lace Club meets from 10 am to 1 pm on the 4th Thursday of Sept, Oct, Nov, Jan, Feb, Mar, Apr, May, and June. We meet in the Board Room at the Hastings Community Centre, 3096 East Hastings Street, Vancouver. The Centre is on the south side of Hastings Street, directly across from the PNE grounds. We are handy to Highway 1 and very close to the south end of the Ironworkers’ Memorial (2nd Narrows) Bridge.
We support many different kinds of lacemaking – crochet, tatting, embroidered laces – as well as our mainstay: bobbin lacemaking. After nearly 60 years as a club, we have a large library, plus for those who want to try lacemaking before they buy equipment we have bobbins, pillows, pins and threads available.
The cost of membership is $20 for the entire year, or $3 per meeting drop-in fee. Your first meeting is free, so please come and see what we’re all about!
